Positive Pay
Stopping attempted check fraud is as easy as 1-2-3-4.
1. Using Harford Bank's Digital One Business (D1-B) online platform, customer provides check data: check number, payee, date, and amount.
2. When Harford Bank received the check, it is verified against customer-provided data.
3. If the check does not match the customer-provided data, it will appear as an exception item for customer to review.
4. Customer may decide to pay or reject the check. Altered checks may be returned with no impact on the customer's checking account.
When security systems are not put in place, fraudsters can create counterfeit checks that may end up being honored. Positive Pay is a Business Banking service designed to reduce the opportunity for check fraud by comparing a company check to data provided by a customer via Harford Bank’s Digital One Business online platform. Customers are alerted if a check does not match the submitted information, and the customer can return the check without any impact on their company account.
For peace of mind, enroll in Positive Pay and get added security against fraud.
